Spicy Margarita

Spicy Margarita

Spicy Margarita

My love for tequila began over the summer when a friend gifted us a bottle of @casamigos. Since then Sam has created different types of margaritas. However, I have a penchant for this spicy margarita made with fresh lime juice & jalapeño peppers. Perfectly balanced: not too sweet, tart, with the right amount of heat. Cheers to 2021. May it be healthy, happy and filled with light.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounch tequila
  • 1 ounch Cointreau
  • 3/4 ounch freshly-squeezed lime juice
  • optional sweetener I like agave nectar
  • 1 slice jalapeño pepper

Notes

I always leave martini glasses to chill in my freezer. Rub a slice of lime around the rim of the glass. Mix sugar and coarse salt on a plate. Invert glass into the mixture. It’s a little extra effort but definitely worth it!
Add tequila, Cointreau and lime juice to a cocktail shaker, and shake well. Taste, and if you would like the cocktail sweeter, stir in a half teaspoon of agave to taste. Pour in the margarita mixture over the rocks. Garnish with a slice or two of jalapeño peppers depending on how spicy you like it.
