Hummus Bowl with Pita

Hummus Bowl with Pita

Hummus Bowl with Pita

Store-bought hummus can contain a lot of fat and preservatives and up to 100 calories per tablespoon! My version is healthier as I replace some of the oil with water and lemon. My girls are huge hummus lovers spreading it on pita, crudités or pasta. It’s a go-to-school lunch. Once you make your own hummus it’s hard to go back to the store-bought ones. Are you a hummus lover?

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup canned chickpeas
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon tahini
  • 1/2 tablespoon cumin
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • pine nuts

Notes

Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until you get a smooth consistency. I like to drizzle some olive oil, pine nuts & chopped carrots, cucumbers & parsley from my garden. I recommend double batching as it goes fast!
